"Highest sound culture combines with existential expression: a momentous event."

Manuel Druminski is an internationally acclaimed soloist and concertmaster, born in Chile and raised and educated in Germany. His artistic career unites the rigorous and distinguished training he received from Prof. Ana Chumachenco with an internationally recognized concert and teaching career, projects reaching across genres, and a strong social engagement that extends across the globe. Among the most notable milestones are his performance for Pope Francis at the Vatican, the recording of the solo violin part for the Hollywood documentary Francesco, and the creation of a 45,000 USD project dedicated to fostering young students in Nigeria.

His musical journey began after his years at the boarding school of the Regensburger Domspatzen in Pielenhofen. In 1994, he was accepted as a scholarship holder into the special program for highly gifted children at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. There he first studied with Prof. Kurt Guntner, before joining the class of Prof. Ana Chumachenco in 2003, where he completed his master class studies with distinction.

In 2009, the multiple scholarship recipient embarked on his first professional appointment as concertmaster with the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg. This important step was followed by his engagements in the same leading role with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. During his years in Salzburg, he developed a refined expertise in the stylistic performance of Mozart’s works, which also sparked an ever-deepening interest in Baroque performance practice. Today, he is regarded as an authority both in the interpretation of Mozart’s Classical repertoire and in the field of Baroque music—two areas of knowledge that profoundly enrich the understanding and articulation of the classical-romantic style. Since September 2024, he has been serving as concertmaster of the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Augsburg State Theater, a position he holds for one season.

In parallel with his orchestral career, Druminski has built a profile as a soloist and chamber musician, with invitations to perform at renowned international festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Freiburg Tent Music Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. A particularly fruitful collaboration developed with the pianist Tatiana Chernichka. Since their student years, they have been performing together, and their interpretations of sonatas by Beethoven, Franck, Janáček, and Bartók were recorded for Bavarian Broadcasting.

Teaching forms a central pillar in his professional path, enriched by his stylistic expertise in both Classical and Baroque repertoire. From 2018 to 2021, he held a permanent teaching position at the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre in Kuwait. In 2020, he additionally accepted a professorship at the University of Musical Arts Kuwait, while simultaneously directing the Harmony Academy. Since 2016, he has been regularly invited to give master classes and chamber music courses at major institutions, including Teatro del Lago in Frutillar (Chile), Universidad de Talca (Chile), Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá (Colombia), and the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) in Lagos. His master classes and educational programs have earned particular recognition in South America, where he is considered an influential artistic personality by institutions as well as by students.

In Chile especially, his work has left lasting pedagogical impact, combining international excellence with local cultural roots. His wide-ranging artistic interests are reflected in numerous projects that extend far beyond the boundaries of classical tradition. He has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Anne-Sophie Mutter, Mischa Maisky, Giora Feidman, Brenda Boytkin, Lutz Krajenski, Thomas Rabitsch, Donnie McClurkin, Don Moen, and Christopher Chaplin. Together with Maryam Anita Khosravi and the award-winning M.A.K. Company, champions of both the Hip-Hop World Championship and the German Championship, he created the project Free Vivaldi, a bold initiative that fuses classical violin repertoire with hip-hop and street dance. With his improvisation ensemble Drumaturgia and Friends, he brings spontaneous soundscapes to the stage. In 2016, he recorded a selection of his own compositions in the studio of Thomas Rabitsch, further extending his artistic profile.

Of particular significance are his international and socially driven initiatives. Since 2017, Druminski has collaborated closely with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) in Lagos, where he has been invited repeatedly to give master and chamber music classes. Supported by the German Embassy and private sponsors, he launched in 2018 a landmark project: the provision of instruments and educational materials worth 45,000 USD for the MUSON Institute. This initiative has continued to enrich the training of countless young musicians and represents a powerful combination of artistic engagement and sustainable educational support. His work in this context extends not only to nurturing the next generation of musicians but also to high-profile concert appearances. At the Experience Concert 12 of the House on the Rock Church in Lagos, he performed before an audience of over 600,000 people, with millions more watching on television. Sharing the stage with Segun Obe, he interpreted the Nigerian national anthem and other works together with internationally celebrated artists.

His international reputation has led to unique invitations of great symbolic importance. In 2019, he performed at the Vatican for Pope Francis and, later that same year, recorded the solo violin part for the Hollywood documentary Francesco. For his artistic achievements, he was awarded the Freiburg Tent Music Festival Prize in 2023.
