JOSA AND THE MAGIC FIDDLE
A story by Janosch, set to music by Wilfried Hiller.
Josa with the Magic Flute
Text: Janosch Music: Wilfried Hiller
The old charcoal burner Jeromir and his son Joshua are actually the happiest people on earth. But there’s something Joshua is thinking about a lot, because he’s the smallest charcoal burner’s son you’ve ever seen and not strong at all. One day, however, Joshua receives a magic fiddle as a present. A fiddle that can make any listener either big and strong or very small. And with this fiddle, Joshua sets off for the moon. On his way he meets many people and animals, whom he can help thanks to his fiddle. He even manages to defeat the greedy king and his riders. Little Joshua bravely moves on until he finally reaches the end of the world. Here he can play for the moon, causing it to sometimes get bigger and sometimes get smaller. Old Jeromir also sees this and knows that none other than his Joshua is able to perform such a miracle.
Joshua and the Magic Fiddle won the LEOPOLD Children’s Media Award by the Association of German Music Schools.
